Climate and Energy

Climate change poses a critical threat to ecosystems, wildlife, and human livelihoods—especially in agriculture-dependent regions like Uganda and much of Africa. Shifting weather patterns, unpredictable rainfall, and extreme events such as droughts, floods, and storms are severely impacting crop and livestock productivity, escalating food insecurity, water scarcity, and economic instability. While climate change drives environmental degradation, unsustainable land use practices also worsen climate impacts, creating a harmful cycle. These combined threats are accelerating biodiversity loss and contributing to potential mass extinctions.

Regenerate Africa (RA) recognizes this crisis and champions climate resilience through nature-based solutions. RA advocates for a sharp reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and promotes a just, equitable environmental transition. Their work involves:

  • Supporting regenerative agriculture and land use,
  • Strengthening climate-smart natural resource management,
  • Mobilizing cross-sectoral collaboration for long-term, inclusive climate solutions.

RA’s integrated approach—spanning landscapes, ecosystems, communities, and policy—tackles the interlinked challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, and socio-economic vulnerability. Through partnerships and a strong stakeholder engagement framework, RA strives to build a safer, more resilient future for both people and the planet.

Adapting to Climate Change

To avoid the worst effects of climate change, we need to dramatically reduce global carbon emissions. But we must also prepare for the significant and unavoidable consequences of carbon emissions such as increasing temperatures, shifting precipitaton patterns, ocean acidification, sea level rise and the increasing intensity and frequency of extreme weather events. RA works with local communities, governments and others to help nature and people prepare for the many impacts of a changing climate.

Protecting Forests

Forests are home to many of the world’s most endangered wildlife. They also protect the planet by absorbing carbon dioxide (CO2), a major source of pollution that causes climate change. RA fights climate change by saving forests.

Influencing Policy

RA works to advance policies that reduce carbon pollution, support clean energy technologies, prepare for the effects of climate change, and curb deforestation.

Engaging Business

Businesses have a responsibility to reduce their contribution to climate change. RA works in partnership with companies to set and meet goals to reduce carbon emissions, advance projects to protect their resources from climate impacts, and ensure the sustainability of their core business.
