- Bwema Island Forest and Landscape Regeneration Project
The project consists of investments in about 500 hectares of forests in Bwema Buvuma aimed at enhancing the forest management regime towards closer to nature practices, natural regeneration and enhanced ecologic and biodiversity conditions.Investments target the natural regeneration and optimiaation of forest ecosystems in Bwema Island, specifically respecting original growing and ecological environments. Current interventions involve a wide range of interventions and approaches, from assisted natural regeneration to conservation and protection of high-priority natural areas to regenerate and restore 500ha of natural forest.
The project also promotes sustainable resilience of the smallholder coffee agro-forestry farming systems to supply chain disruptions and market shocks targeting 500 households in intended to ensure sustainable intensification of the smallholder coffee farming systems for income, food and nutrition security and promoting the creation of entrepreneurial jobs beyond farming.
