Recently Regenerate Africa participated in a long anticipated primary school launch in Senyi Village. It is located in the Ssi-Bukunja District where Regenerate Africa focuses work on Gender, Health and Environment, with plans to scale up.
St. Peter’s Senyi Primary School was funded by the Embassy of Island, and the land it sits on it was donated by one of Regenerate Africa’s Board of Directors.
The school will start with nearly 400 students. Regenerate Africa has taken the opportunity to implement an early education sensitization program focused on environmental conservation and reforestation. The school sits on 5 acres of land, part of which is a forested area. With Regenerate Africa’s help and oversight, it will be important to continue educating the surrounding community on the need for sustaining the forest and adding to the reforestation effort.
In aiding that effort, the “Butasee Bukutase” women’s group in the region gave a performance of songs focused on environmental sustainability and regeneration, as part of Regenerate Africa’s mission to spread the message in easily disseminatable methods.
St. Peter’s Senyi Primary School hopes to add a secondary school down the line, and when that time comes Regenerate Africa will be there to continue implement childhood and sensitization efforts around conservation.
