The “CIRcularity of Nutrients in AgroecoSystems and co-benefits on animal and human health (CIRNA)” project team successfully conducted its inception workshop on November 5, 2024, at Hotel Africana in Kampala. The workshop brought together key stakeholders from government ministries, research institutions, civil society organizations, and project implementing partners to introduce the project and co-create implementation strategies.
Project Overview
The CIRNA project aims to develop and promote improved manure management practices for smallholder mixed crop-pig systems in Uganda. These practices will ensure better organic fertilizer quality, improved health outcomes for humans and animals, and enhanced environmental sustainability.
The project is implemented by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Agroscope, Regenerate Africa, Veterinaires Sans Frontieres Germany (VSFG) Uganda, and Makerere University with funding from the Solution-oriented Research for Development (SOR4D) programme.
