Agriculturalist
Charles Owuor is an Agriculturalist currently working with DANIDA as a Senior Adviser ‐ Access to finance. He has over 19 years’ combination of experience in program development; Managing Strategic partnerships; Donor Engagement, Grant Acquisition and Management. He has a good understanding of the agriculture sector in Uganda. As a consultant with the World Bank, he proved that the geographic distribution of Public Expenditure in the Agricultural sector is highly inefficient to address inequality. Secondly, that the government outsized role leaves little room for private sector participation and growth opportunity for agribusiness. This observation has never been contested. Charles was also part of the team that developed the Africa’s Agricultural Higher Education Science and Technology Strategy (AHESTI) that is anchored on nurturing and sustaining partnerships between universities and non‐university actors for inclusive capacity development to support on‐going structural shifts in Africa’s agri‐food system and implementing policies for agricultural growth. Charles is Agricultural Economist PhD Research Fellow at Kenyatta University, Nairobi Kenya and is married to Dr Monica K. Owuor and they are blessed with Three Children.
