Sono Aibe is an Independent Consultant on SRHR and Climate. Sono recently served as the Program Manager for Public Health at Preston-Werner Ventures based in San Francisco where she lead the funding strategy related to public health, specializing in sexual and reproductive health and rights and justice in the US and globally. She has also served in various management roles in large and small non-profit organizations in her native country of Japan and in the US, as well as making grants at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation for 13 years. From 2019-2021, she worked with Family Planning 2030 at the UN Foundation, and prior to that, served in various senior capacities at Pathfinder International for ten years, spearheading inter-disciplinary work on reproductive health, natural resource management and alternative livelihoods. She is an accomplished champion and author of a variety of publications for integrated reproductive health, women’s economic empowerment and environmental conservation programs in East Africa that aim to serve local communities’ immediate needs, while contributing to national strategies towards meeting the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and climate-related action plans. Sono has degrees from Harvard University and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she focused on Health Systems.
