Kabiswa Charles is the Executive Director of Regenerate Africa. He brings over 20 years of experience in sustainable environmental and natural resources management, climate resilience, regenerative agriculture and livestock, ESG/sustainability, agroecology, gender, governance, health, and policy and legislative actions across East Africa.
Charles has extensive expertise in designing, managing, and implementing multisectoral integrated programs and projects that involve multiple partnerships and agencies. He is a highly self-motivated professional with the ability to work across disciplines and collaborate effectively with government, civil society, and private sector stakeholders at community, national, and international levels.
He has a strong track record in policy advocacy and has contributed to the development and review of several key policies and frameworks, including:
- Climate Change Policy and Act
- Uganda’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)
- Draft Wetlands Policy and Act
- Mining Policy and Bill
- National Adaptation Plans (NAPs)
- Green growth strategies
- East African Community and Uganda Population, Health, and Environment strategies
Charles is a certified Green Project Manager and holds a Master’s Degree in Project Management (MPM) from the University for International Cooperation (UCI) in Costa Rica.
He currently serves on the Global ExpandNet Advisory Council (ENAC) for ExpandNet. His previous leadership roles include:
- Board Chairperson, Community Fund Microfinance (CF-MFI)
- Board Chair, Tavia Schools
- Board Member, Vision Capital International (VCI)
- Board Member, Happy Bee Honey Ltd
Additionally, Charles serves on the PELUM Uganda Country Board, where he provides strategic oversight and guidance on finance sustainability, risk management, fundraising, performance, human resources, and other governance matters.
